Praise the Lord your God with what you listen to. Plain and simple. How can I listen to a song that doesn't praise my God.
After confronting a few people about this topic, most people would disagree with me. They say that it causes no harm for them to listen to secular music.
1: like a gateway drug, music will only get progressively worse as you allow yourself to listen to more and more.
2: what you hear comes out of your mouth and embeds itself into your heart. Don't we remember the sundy school song. "be careful little ears what you hear".
3: Jesus is with you. At all times! Do you think he wants to listen to the garbage coming out of your headphones and into his temple?
4: If some songs are bad enough that they need be sensored on the radio, do you think you should sensor them at least from your mind?
Some people think I just mean songs that swear. Not at all. If you just do that, your just shrouding yourself in a cloud of lies. Some of the worst songs out there don't swear. If it's not for him, don't listen.
So I have gone from 1500 song on my iPod to 377. Only songs that worship my God. You should join me and listen to nothing but what worships the lord of lords.
Music is something that impacts the way we think. So if it's something not uplifting trash it! I totally agree TK. It's the same with Movies, I have a few movies that aren't totally up lifting that I'm gonna throw out. Waiting to use it in a lesson though...something with a microwave.
